Math Teacher
I have taught math for most of my career either as an elementary or middle school math teacher. I teach so that students learn. As a matter of fact, my deeply held belief is that I haven't taught until my students have learned.
I use ever tool at my disposal to make learning math engaging and productive. I live for the "Aha! math moment.
My students have always grown in my math class. I know how to take students from where they are to as far as they can go. There is ceiling to my math class. That kind of growth calls for effective, differentiated teaching.
Math Coach
It wasn't until I became a math coach that I really understood how different and more challenging teaching math is from all of the other subjects I have taught. I have worked to support teachers in their endeavor to teach math effectively because I know how much goes into planning and teaching mathematics.
I have learned to use strategies that support adult learning and also lead to student improvement. I keep teachers engaged in their own grow while I support them in areas where they need just a little extra lift.
Math Consultant
I have worked as an educational consultant since 2011. I used the skills I gained from working with adults as a Math Coach to support teachers, schools and districts throughout the country.
I currently work with CORE as an Educational Services Consultant during my summers and design my own professional learning experiences to support teachers.
